Raising awareness and understanding of
speech, language and communication needs
throughout the school ensures that all
children and young people have language
and communication opportunities. Classroom support is essential for reinforcing and
transferring skills learnt in therapy. For
therapy and intervention to be effective, it is
essential to work collaboratively with
others. Improving whole school awareness
of SLCN ensures that strategies and
approaches can be embedded and used
across the school.
Services may include:
- Monitoring whole school awareness and understanding of SLCN
- Modelling to teaching assistants for continued and targeted support
- Working jointly and collaboratively with school staff and outside agencies
